What are Letters of Administration and when do I need them?
You will need to apply for Letters of Administration when someone dies without leaving a Will. This is similar to the application for a Grant of Probate (which is made when the deceased leaves behind a Will)
Once the Court issues the Letters of Administration, the person named as the administrator has official authority of the Court to administer the estate in accordance with the intestacy rules.
How do I apply for Letters of Administration
- Given there is no Will, the application for Letters of Administration is normally made by a next of kin of the deceased.
